OUR CULTURAL ELDER

From her early childhood to the greater part of her adult life, Rosema has been an active participant in national and cultural activities. She represented the Salisbury community in Bele, Kont, Heel and toe polka and Quadrille. She led several adult and children folk dance troupes and won many prizes and trophies at national day cultural competitions.
Her highest cultural achievement was the Golden Drum Award, presented to her at the 1984 Independence Celebrations, for her selfless contribution to the preservation of folk dances through the running of classes for young children in the Salisbury area and for her high standard of performance at the national competitions.
Daydame had the privilege of being engaged by HHV Whitchurch Company Limited, to perform with her folk dance troupe on tourist boats and at hotels, for the benefit of visitors. She entertained Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh, during the royal visit to Dominica on the 25th of October 1985. |
