A cricket match turned sour

A closer look at Jamie's jaw

      A cricket match turned sour

National Cricket player Jamie Jno Baptiste of Salisbury is currently nursing wounds at the Princess Margaret Hospital following an altercation with a team mate.

The fracas ensued during the lunch interval at a cricket match between Desiderata Tremors and the Police Sports Club at the Botanic Gardens on Sunday August 10, 2008. Jno Baptiste is not a police officer and has played for the Police Sports Club for five years now. It is important to note however that his team mate and offender is a Police Constable.

As a resulFractured lower jawt of the altercation, he sustained a fractured lower jaw which now requires surgery. He also obtained multiple stitches both on the inside and outside of his mouth.  Jno. Baptiste must now bear the cost of his medical bills as well as physical and emotional distress.

This is an unfortunate blow to the police force at a time when their efforts are now geared towards forging a deeper relationship with the community through its Community Policing Programme.

The Salisbury community is deeply saddened by this event and wishes Mr. Jno. Baptiste a speedy recovery.
